California State Legislature honors physician for leadership in public health

 

UCI Health pain management specialist Shalini Shah, MD was recently honored with an official resolution from both the California State Assembly and Senate, recognizing her exceptional leadership in healthcare across Orange County and the state. The resolution, presented at an Orange County Medical Association (OCMA) meeting, highlights Shah's impactful contributions, including her work on Governor Newsom’s fentanyl crisis task force.

Shah, who specializes in the management and treatment of adult and pediatric pain, has extensive training in managing chronic pain conditions in children, specifically in head and neck pain, abdominal pain and pain related to cancer, scoliosis, or spasticity disorders. She is also a professor and vice chair of the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.

Shah shared that the recognition represents not only a personal milestone but also the collective efforts of her department and the broader UCI Health community.
