
Chad T. Lefteris, President and CEO of UCI Health, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s prestigious Academic Medical Center CEOs to Know list for 2025. The recognition highlights Lefteris’ leadership in expanding access to academic medicine and driving innovation across one of California’s largest health systems.
Under his guidance, UCI Health has:
- Launched the $1.3 billion UCI Health – Irvine medical campus, the first U.S. medical center powered by an all-electric plant.
- Acquired four hospitals in Orange and Los Angeles counties, significantly increasing regional access.
- Advanced telehealth, home-based preventive care, and climate sustainability, making UCI Health a national model.
- Achieved top rankings in Vizient’s quality studies for both inpatient and outpatient care.
- Earned five Magnet nursing designations and consistent “A” grades from Leapfrog for hospital safety.
The system now includes UCI Health – Orange, UCI Health – Irvine, and four additional hospitals, with a new Rehabilitation Hospital opening in 2026. Serving over 5.6 million people, UCI Health continues to lead in high-quality, accessible care across Southern California.
