Dear Colleague,

At the UCI Health Center for Urological Care, we remain steadfast in our commitment to innovation, education, and patient-centered care. Over the past year, our department has expanded access to world-class urologic care, launched groundbreaking research, and strengthened global collaborations to advance the field.

With 30 faculty members, including 26 clinical specialists and four research scientists, we continue to set the standard in urology. In 2024 alone, our faculty led 37 clinical trials, presented 147 abstracts, and published 157 peer-reviewed manuscripts, driving forward discoveries that will shape the future of urologic care.

Message from the Chair

Jaime Landman, MD

Chair, Department of Urology

UC Irvine School of Medicine

At UCI Health, we believe in transforming lives through cutting-edge research, comprehensive education, and unparalleled patient care. Our mission is not just to treat disease but to advance the science of urology and redefine the standard of care for patients worldwide.

This year, we launched the Rose Bowl PSA Screening Partnership, a pioneering initiative that screened over 50 men for prostate cancer, identifying five individuals with elevated PSA levels—an effort that may have saved lives. This is just the beginning, as we prepare to introduce the Man Van, a mobile screening unit aimed at increasing prostate cancer awareness and early detection in underserved communities.

Our department continues to serve as a global leader in education. The Blue Skies Conference, a first-of-its-kind international gathering, brought together experts to share groundbreaking advancements in technology, artificial intelligence, and preventive health strategies. Our Grandest Rounds series remains one of the most widely attended urologic education programs in the world, engaging physicians across 54 countries and all seven continents.

Looking ahead, we are expanding our facilities and programs to enhance both patient care and research. With the opening of a new Women’s Health Center and a Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Center, we are building comprehensive, multidisciplinary programs that will transform care for patients with complex conditions. Additionally, our work in biobanking and artificial intelligence-driven kidney cancer research is poised to generate the first-ever predictive biomarkers for kidney cancer, improving early diagnosis and treatment outcomes.

We remain dedicated to advancing urology, ensuring that our discoveries translate into real-world solutions for patients. If you are a board-certified urologist with a Doximity profile, you should have received an email inviting you to cast a vote for a hospital that excels in your specialty. We hope you will consider selecting UCI Medical Center in the 2024-25 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.
