UCI Health expands living donor kidney program with new surgical director

UCI Health is delighted to welcome Christina Papageorge, MD, an accomplished multiorgan transplant surgeon, to our team. Papageorge joins us from the University of Virginia, where she served as Living Donor Kidney Surgical Director, and previously held a faculty position at the University of Cincinnati. She earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia, a master’s in clinical investigation from the University of Wisconsin, and completed her general surgery residency and abdominal transplantation fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.

At UVA, she led initiatives to expand the living donor kidney program through patient education and Kidney Paired Donation, enhancing transplant access. Specializing in adult and pediatric kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation and robotic approaches to minimally invasive donor nephrectomy, Papageorge will drive the growth of the abdominal transplant program as Surgical Director of the Living Donor Kidney program. We are fortunate to have recruited her to UCI to help grow and lead this vital program for our community.
