UCI Health honored by AMA for promoting physician well-being

UCI Health has been recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as a Joy in Medicine™ health organization, acknowledging its commitment to enhancing physician well-being and reducing burnout.

This distinction, valid for two years, highlights UCI Health's sustained wellness programs, including physician coaching, mental health support appointments, a faculty peer support program, and quarterly well-being grand rounds. Each department also designates a wellness officer to address specialty-specific well-being issues.

“[We] have been committed to recognizing the challenges of physician burnout and sustaining wellness programs to support physicians,” said Anju Hurria, MD, director of the Faculty Wellness Program and inaugural wellness officer for the UCI Health Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute. "It is an honor for UCI Health to receive the AMA Joy in Medicine recognition."
