UCI Health — Irvine welcomes community to new hospital

This month, UCI Health hosted a series of community events ahead of the December opening of UCI Health — Irvine, the academic health system’s sixth hospital. The celebrations began with a physician reception featuring remarks from leadership, a patient testimonial, live music, and a toast to the future.

Open houses followed throughout the weekend, drawing hundreds of community members who braved the rain to tour the new 144-bed facility. UCI Health — Irvine will be the nation’s first all-electric acute care hospital and a hub for advanced specialties, including cancer, cardiology, neurology, and orthopedics.

The weekend also included a health fair, live performances, and interactive booths highlighting services offered at the new hospital. Guests explored patient-centered design features such as spacious rooms, smart technology, natural light and sustainable furnishings. The opening marks the fulfillment of a decades-long vision to bring a full-service medical center to the Irvine campus, expanding access to world-class care for coastal and South Orange County communities.
