Chapters Transcript Video Lisa Gibbs, MD discusses a year of advancements in geriatrics By 2030, all of the older adults will surpass the numbers of children in this country. So we're we're in a situation now where we need to prepare for the demographic shifts that are happening. I'm Lisa Gibbs. I'm currently the chief of geriatric medicine and gerontology, uh, also the interim chair of the Department of Family Medicine. I am a family physician and geriatrician by background, uh, and I also serve as the medical director for Population Health and value-based care here at UCI Health. First of all, you know, we're here, we have a mission and passion for older adults. So we have the largest board certified group of geriatricians here in Orange County, and we hire only those with an advocacy and passion for older adults. We have a triple and even quadruple aim of teach, discover, heal, and Advocacy. We have numbers of learners coming through our division and our clinic. We are currently in a senior health center which serves only older adults over 65 and only those with the most complex needs. We are an age-friendly health system. And that means that for every patient in our system that we see, we address the four M's, which are mentation, medication, mobility, and what matters most to that patient. So this is what we bring to the table and it really elevates the care that everyone sees anywhere here in our system. So, so. We are a national leader and pioneer in age-friendly health initiatives. We reliably provide a set of the four evidence-based 4MMs that I mentioned, and we are one of the few healthcare systems selected by HHI to be to be involved in an improvement project for IHI initiatives in age-friendly care.
