Neurosurgeon discusses surgical options for medically refractory epilepsy
Sumeet Vadera, MD, MBA, FAANS, a fellowship-trained UCI Health neurosurgeon who specializes in epilepsy surgery, with expertise in minimally invasive surgery, discusses options for patients with medically refractory epilepsy.
Vadera's clinical expertise is in neuromonitoring, specifically subdural grids and stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG). He performs minimally invasive laser surgery to treat deep epileptic lesions in the brain and is skilled at implanting the NeuroPace RNS® (responsive neurostimulation) device to help control seizures. He is the first neurosurgeon on the West Coast to use a neurosurgical robotic device for precise mapping and positioning when performing SEEG and other minimally invasive cranial procedures.
