UCI Health Chair of Neurology: Parkinson’s treatments are not good enough
Dr. Claire Henchcliffe is a renowned UCI Health neurologist specializing in movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease. With over 20 years of experience treating patients, Henchcliffe's journey began at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, where she earned her medical degree. She completed her neurology residency and a movement disorders fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, alongside a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oxford.
Before becoming chair of the UCI School of Medicine Department of Neurology, Henchcliffe held key positions at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. She is both a clinician and scientist, focusing on groundbreaking research in Parkinson's disease treatments, including stem cell-based regenerative therapy and gene therapy. Henchcliffe has published in distinguished journals and presented at national and international conferences.
